1. Purpose of the Volunteer Program
The East York Skating Club Volunteer Program is designed to create a structured, club‑based approach to volunteering. This program outlines the expectations, responsibilities, and incentives for individuals who contribute their time to support club programs, events, and operations.
Volunteers are essential to the success of the club. They help ensure high‑quality programming, smooth event operations, and a welcoming, community‑focused environment for skaters and families.
2. Program Overview – How the Volunteer Program Works
The Volunteer Program is built around club‑supported volunteer roles, grouped into committees and event‑based opportunities. Each volunteer registers with the Volunteer Committee, receives onboarding and training, and selects the areas where they want to contribute.
Step-by-Step Program Flow:
1. Enrollment – Volunteers sign up through the Volunteer Committee and complete onboarding and confidentiality agreements.
2. Orientation & Training – Volunteers attend general and role-specific training.
3. Role Assignment – Volunteers choose from approved committees and events.
4. Volunteering & Tracking Hours – Volunteers check in/out for shifts; hours are recorded.
5. Credit Redemption – Credits may be applied to eligible fees or merchandise.
6. Recognition – Volunteers receive ongoing and end-of-season appreciation.
3. Volunteer Roles & Committees
Volunteer opportunities may include but are not limited to:
• Volunteer Committee
• Ice Show Committee (planning and operational roles)
• CanSkate Committee
• Test Day Committee
• Winter Games Committee
Event & Operational Support:
• Ice Show registration & costume sizing
• Ice Show picture day support
• CanSkate sessions and orientation days
• Test Days (registration, music, runner, awards)
• Winter Games event operations
• Special events (holiday skate, gala)
• Office support/data entry
• Other club-approved volunteer roles
4. Volunteer Expectations
Commitment – Volunteers attend shifts and notify leads if unavailable.
Professional Conduct – Volunteers uphold EYSC values with respect and integrity.
Training – Orientation and role-specific training required.
Confidentiality – Volunteers must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
5. Volunteer Incentive Program
The club recognizes volunteer contributions through both credits and non-credit perks.
A. Volunteer Credit System (Financial Incentives)
• 1 credit per hour volunteered
• 1 credit = $10
Credits may be redeemed for:
• Discounts on club programs and test fees (up to $100 per family per season)
• Club merchandise
Limitations:
• Max redemption $100 per family per season
• Credits non-transferable and expire at season end
B. Volunteer Perks (Non-Credit Related)
These perks are exclusive to active volunteers and not tied to credits.
• Early registration access for club programs
• Priority ticket access for the annual Ice Show
• End-of-season appreciation gift
6. Volunteer Recognition
The club shows appreciation through:
• Annual appreciation event
• Social media spotlights
• Certificates of recognition
