2026/27 OFF-ICE TRAINING

We are pleased to announce the EYSC Off-Ice Training schedule for the 2026/27 season!

This year, we are offering both Strength & Conditioning and Jumps Off-Ice, with classes dedicated to specific skating levels.

Rising Stars skaters will be automatically enrolled in off-ice training. No action is required.

For Recreational Bronze, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Diamond skaters, off-ice training is included for skaters registered in one or more East York on-ice sessions.

At this time, skaters may register for one off-ice class per week. Classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. If additional space becomes available, we may allow skaters to register for a second class later in the season.

Registration opens Thursday, September 10 at 6:00 PM.

Please only register your skater for one off-ice class at this time. Skaters who register for more than one class will be removed from all off-ice classes and will need to re-register.

We are aiming to begin off-ice programming on September 16. If there are any changes to the start date or schedule, families will be notified as soon as possible.

Please note that off-ice classes may occasionally be cancelled due to instructor availability or permit-related issues. Refunds or credits will not be provided for these cancellations.

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION UPDATES

As registration approaches, please review the following important updates for the upcoming season.

Monday Skating Location

Monday sessions will begin the season at East York Memorial Arena and will remain there through October 5.

Beginning October 19, Monday sessions will move to Don Montgomery Community Recreation Centre, where they will remain for the rest of the season.

Please keep this location change in mind when registering for a Monday session.

Off-Ice Training

Our off-ice schedule is still being finalized and will be released separately after registration opens.

Off-ice programming will have its own dedicated registration, so members do not need to register for off-ice during the initial on-ice registration.

Adult Stars Group Program

Registration for the Adult Stars Group Program will open at a later date and will not be available during the initial registration period.

Additional program and registration details will be shared separately once finalized.

EARLY REGISTRATION ELIGIBILITY REMINDER

Hi EYSC Members,

As we prepare for registration, we wanted to clarify who is eligible for early member registration access.

To be considered a returning EYSC member and receive early access to registration, you must have been registered in an EYSC program during either:

The 2025–2026 Fall/Winter season, or
The Spring 2026 season

If you were not registered in a program during either of these seasons, you will not be eligible for early member registration and will be able to register when registration opens to the general public.

Please keep this in mind when planning for registration.

2026–2027 FALL/WINTER PRICING & REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Our 2026–2027 Fall/Winter pricing has now been released!

Families are encouraged to carefully review our pricing, program information, qualification requirements, skating pathways, and schedule before registration opens to ensure they are selecting the appropriate program for their skater.

Registration Dates

Member Registration: Thursday, August 27 at 6:00 PM
General Public Registration: Friday, August 28 at 6:00 PM

Current members will receive a registration code by email to access early registration.

Important Information for the 2026–2027 Season

Rising Stars Auditions

All skaters interested in Rising Stars must first register for an audition. Following the audition, eligible skaters will be sent a link to register for the full season.

Tuesday Morning Skating

Tuesday morning skating will begin on October 20. Please keep this later start date in mind when reviewing the schedule.

Monday Sessions

The first four weeks of Monday sessions will be held at East York Memorial Arena (EYMA). Monday sessions will then transition to Don Montgomery Community Recreation Centre the week after Thanksgiving. Please review the schedule carefully for session locations and dates.

STARSkate Assessments

All STARSkate test results received by the Club as of June 2026 have been uploaded to Skate Canada. Families are encouraged to review their skater's Skate Canada record before registration to confirm their current qualifications.

Program Changes

As part of our transition back to our traditional Fall/Winter program structure, we have made a few adjustments to our programming for the upcoming season.

Unfortunately, we will not be offering Teen/Tween CanSkate or Adult CanSkate this season.

Teen and tween skaters are still welcome to register in our regular stream of classes based on their current qualification level, such as CanSkate or Fundamentals.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to continuing to provide a positive skating experience for all of our members.

Skate Canada Fee Updates

Skate Canada has increased several fees for the upcoming season:

2026–2027 Skate Canada Membership Fee: $65.70
STAR 1–5 Assessment Fees: $20 per assessment
STAR 6–Gold Assessment Fees: $30 per assessment

⛸️ WE’RE LOOKING FOR PROGRAM ASSISTANTS! ⛸️

Interested in getting more involved at EYSC this season? We’re looking for Program Assistants (PAs) to join our CanSkate team for the 2026–2027 season!

PAs work alongside our professional coaching staff to support younger skaters in our Pre-CanSkate, CanSkate, and Fundamentals programs while gaining valuable leadership and work experience.

Who can apply?
⭐ Skaters who are at least 10 years old as of September 2026
⭐ Skating at a minimum of the Bronze level
⭐ Able to commit to at least one CanSkate session per week
⭐ Fun, reliable, patient, and excited to work with younger skaters!

Mandatory PA Training
📅 Thursday, September 17
⏰ 5:20–7:30 PM

All new and returning PAs are expected to attend training. Participants will receive 2 hours of skating credit or volunteer hours, plus pizza and a completion certificate!

PA Benefits
⭐ PA jacket for the season
⭐ Choose between $5/hour in skating credits OR high school volunteer hours
⭐ Build leadership and experience working with children
⭐ Great experience to add to a future resume

Our tentative Fall/Winter 2026–2027 schedule has now been posted under the Calendar section of our website!

Please note that off-ice programming and morning session times are still being finalized and will be added as soon as they are confirmed.

We encourage all members to take a look at the tentative schedule as we prepare for the upcoming season.

Registration has not yet opened. The registration date will be announced soon through our website, social media, and email, so stay tuned!

SUMMER UPDATE

We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!

East York Skating Club is currently closed for the summer, but we are already hard at work preparing for another great season.

We are currently finalizing our arena permits, so our Fall/Winter registration date has not been confirmed just yet. We are hoping to have registration open mid-August, pending the finalization of our permits. We will also do our best to have the Fall/Winter schedule available as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience. We hope you're enjoying your summer, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on the ice this fall!

LOCKER CLEAN-OUT AND LOCK RETURN REMINDER

Hi Skaters,

As this is the final week of our spring session, please remember to empty your locker and return your lock to the office by the end of the week.

I will be available in the office during the following times:

Tuesday: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Wednesday: 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM
Thursday: 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Friday (Test Day): Available throughout the day

Please note that any locks that have not been returned by the end of the week will be removed from lockers, and any remaining contents will be cleared out.
