CANSKATE GROUP ROTATIONS

This is the first week of Canskate group rotations! As mentioned in our Canskate Infomation email (and on our website). Canksate/Fundamentals/Teen Groups will be rotating to 3 stations during their lesson time: Balance, Control & Agility.
Balance: Forward, Gliding, Edges, Crossovers
Control: Stopping, Backwards, Speed
Agility: Turns, Jumps, Pivots
Switching coaches ensures consistent quality instruction for all skaters! This allows for optimal progressions and opportunities to meet different coaches benefiting from their unique coaching styles!
We find it helpful to let your child know (before the session) that they will be meeting new teachers & rotating to different stations.
Skaters will start in the same colour, with the same teacher they had the previous weeks. Then they will rotate to a new teacher, with their group colour.
Skaters will have a general progress report & a detailed end-of-year report card which will include any ribbons the skater has earned this season! Please note all skills must be done on both feet, for a certain amount of time to be achieved.
REMINDER: NO REGULAR SKATING ON JANUARY 24TH

A friendly reminder that there is no skating or off-ice on Wednesday, January 24th due to our Starskate Test Day & Ice Show Feature Auditions. Classes will resume on January 31st.

Attached is a copy of the Test Day on Wednesday, January 24th.
This year, we have a new payment process!
If you have multiple kids testing, kindly complete their invoices/cart separately.
Uplifter should apply the appropriate fees at the total:
- 1 Test = $25
- 2 Tests = $37
- 3 Tests = $49
Under "Comments regarding invoice" please add the skater's name. Then, if another skater is testing, complete a second invoice.

LAST DAY TO REGISTER FOR ICE SHOW FEATURES

Today is the last day to register for Ice Show Feature Auditions! Registration closes at 11pm!
Ice Show Feature Auditions - Wednesday, January 24, 2024
We invite StarSkaters who have registered for a number in the ice show & who have completed all of star 2 to join us for Feature Auditions on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024 starting at 5:35pm (after Test Day).
Deadline - Wednesday, January 17th @ 11pm
Cost = $20
The ice show directors will announce those selected for features in early February 2023.
** Please note: We highly recommend skaters intending to audition to discuss details with their private coach before registering.

FRIDAY SESSION CLARIFICATION

Good morning,
Originally, our Ice Show Auditions were scheduled on a Friday, but we moved them to Wednesday, January 24th (after Test Day).
This change was detailed in the key date schedule we emailed on December 27th, but we wanted to provide a breakdown:
- Friday, February 3rd: sessions/off-ice are running
- Friday, April 5th: No Sessions (to keep the same amount of weeks scheduled for Friday)
Due to Easter weekend the weekend prior, the last session will be on Friday, March 22nd.
FIRST DAY OF PRE-CAN, CANSKATE, FUNDAMENTALS, TEEN & ADULT CANSKATE

Happy New Year! We are excited to welcome you to the rink tomorrow!
Friendly reminder, to please arrive with enough time to find parking, collect name sticker for helmet & get skates on. If you skated with us in the fall, you will need a new sticker as the group colour may have changed.
After, skaters & parents will head down the stairs (or elevator) and pick a changeroom to get their skates on.
Our arena has 2 entrances for skaters to enter the ice surface (from the changeroom floor) South Doors & East Doors. This is for the safety of our skaters! Please refer to the attached document.
Enter/Exit signage will be also located at the name tag table.
Tuesday Skaters - Hockey players will be arriving during the last session. At some point in the season, we may designate changerooms for the skating club (but we need to hear back from the rink staff/city).

We invite StarSkaters who have registered for a number in the ice show & who have completed all of star 2 and/or competed in the star 2 category to join us for Feature Auditions on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024 (after Test Day, Time TBD)
Registration Opens - Saturday, January 6th (Now Open)
Deadline - Wednesday, January 17th @ 11pm
Cost = $20
Our ice starts at 4:10 pm, but we will confirm the official start time of this event upon the completion of registration & Test Day participants. An audition schedule will be emailed to participants.
The ice show directors will announce those selected for features in early February 2023.
