FAQs

Common Questions:

1. When and where can I pick up my skater’s costume?
  • Costume pick up happens at the dressing room level at East York Memorial Arena and the schedule is posted HERE. There are lots of times available to pick up costumes so please arrange your schedule accordingly. You can always send a friend or family member to pick up as long as they have your skater’s full name and Ice Show number.
2. When should my skater arrive at the arena?
  • Dress Rehearsal (April 25th ) @ 5pm - all skaters & volunteers to arrive
    • Plan for the event to end around 7:30pm
  • Show #1 (April 26 th ) Show Time @ 7:30pm
    • Volunteers arrive at 6:15pm
    • Skaters in the first half arrive at 6:30pm
    • Skaters in second half arrive at 7:00pm
  • Show #2 (April 27 th ) Show Time @ 1:30pm
    • Volunteers arrive at 12:15pm

    • Volunteers arrive at 5:45pm
    • Skaters in the first half arrive at 6:00pm
    • Skaters in second half arrive at 6:30pm
Volunteers can bring their skater in with them when they arrive 75 minutes before the show.  Doors will open thirty minutes before show time for non-skaters and non-volunteers for that show.
Skaters are required to stay in the dressing rooms under parent-volunteer supervision for the duration of the show. If a skater skates in the first half and would like to be picked up at intermission they can be picked up at the east doors.

3. Where is drop off and pick up?
  • Pick Up & Drop off occurs at the East End Doors (back of the arena, near the baseball field) at the times listed above. Skaters will be escorted down to the dressing rooms. Please refer to question #5 for more pick up information.
  • Volunteers can bring their skater with them through the main doors when they have a volunteer shift otherwise the skater must enter & exit through the east door.

4. Can I park in the arena parking lot?
  • No. Only those with accessibility passes will be permitted to park in the arena parking lot so please plan ahead. There is parking on the side streets around the arena as well as the curling club, the local public school and the Shopper’s Drug Mart at Woodbine and O’Connor that could all have spaces available.
5. When does my skater perform?
  • All skaters will skate in all three shows. They are also required to attend all rehearsals and the Dress Rehearsal. The shows take place on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon and evening.
6. Can my skater leave after they have skated?
  • Skaters are only permitted to leave the arena at the intermission of each show PROVIDED they have already performed. Early pick up occurs at the East Doors (back of the arena near the baseball diamond). Keep in mind that there is a grand finale at the end of each show where all the skaters come out onto the ice and receive congratulations.

7. Are there keepsakes available?
  • YES! Besides all skaters keeping their ice show costumes, there will also be souvenir t-shirts available for purchase. We will also be selling flowers and stuffies that you can purchase to toss onto the ice for your skater during the Grand Finale. An online souvenir program will also be available for download at the show.
8. Will there be snacks provided?

  • We will be selling concessions at all shows so there will be chips, popcorn, candy and drinks available for purchase. A cart will roll downstairs in the dressing rooms so that skaters can purchase items as well. Your skater may bring their own snacks provided they are school safe (NUT FREE PLEASE)

9. Will my skater be able to watch the show?
  • All skaters must remain in the dressing rooms for the duration of the show under parent volunteer supervision, unless they have skated in the first half of the show and wish to leave at intermission (see question #5)
10. Can I go and see my skater/can they come see me during the show?
  • NO. In order to maintain the flow of the show and to make things easier on the volunteers, you may not visit your skater during the show and they may not leave the dressing room to visit with you. They will be well taken care of and be having a ton of fun in the dressing rooms.

Call for Volunteers

Are there any members of our community that have an interest and/or background with photography and/or videography? We are searching for people to photograph and video the show this year. If you have an interest in putting your name forward or have questions of what this would entail please email Sean at sean.s.lamb@gmail.com. For those with a skater in the show, this would count as your volunteer responsibilities for the show! We will share the full volunteer duties list in the coming weeks.
